Alan Barrett
is an amazing man. He speaks with such genuine joy it is difficult to not get
caught up in it. Andrew has been in the hospital 15 x in this past year with
lung infections. He is 20 yrs old and had a part time job. Stacy is 22 and
living and learning much at home and Elizabeth is teaching.
Alan is
pastor of a small church – when asked what percentage of time does he spend
time on the Pastor’s duties and Frontiers – he states 100% or each, there is no
30 /70%. He does both. For the church he does the pastors duties and for
Frontiers he and Beth are involved in the Barnabas ministry. This is a ministry
of pastoral counseling to missionaries to Northern India and Northing Iraq –
personal counseling, marital counseling – all by skipe and email. It’s
hilarious fun to be part of it with all the technology. He states there are
incredible opportunities to minister. They would love to go full time in
Frontiers but really require the pastoral position for the insurance for
Andrew. That is probably the biggest sacrifice is to live here in the USA. Alan
and Beth “would love to be abroad and minister directly to the Islamic people
who are hungry to know who Jesus really is”.They had an opportunity to join 1200 Frontier believers in Thailand who
came from 48 Muslim countries with the sole purpose of making the statement
that they yearn to be untied to glorify their Lord.It was a powerful and colorful (all races)
commitment service that was amazing. They know some will die, be in prison,
suffer harassment but they know Jesus must be shared so the Muslim people can
have the Lord lighten up in their eyes. This is at the heart of Alan and Beth’s
desire.
